Main Article Content
Abstract
As cultural tourism sites, museums play an important role in preserving cultural heritage while providing recreational and educational opportunities for the general public. One of Yogyakarta's main museums, the Sonobudoyo Museum, preserves Javanese cultural assets and has great potential to develop as a cultural tourism destination. The aim of this research is to evaluate the attractiveness of the Sonobudoyo Museum as a cultural tourism destination using a methodology that combines the perspectives of tourists and museum managers. To fully understand the phenomenon under study, mixed methods techniques were used. In-depth interviews with museum guides, field observations, and questionnaires given to visitors to the Sonobudoyo Museum were used to collect data. Qualitative data was analyzed thematically to identify elements that influence the museum's attractiveness, while quantitative data was analyzed descriptively to show the level of visitor satisfaction. The results showed that the majority of visitors had positive opinions about their visit, indicating the museum's success in offering a satisfying cultural tourism experience. The attraction of the Sonobudoyo Museum is influenced by a number of important factors, such as its extensive supporting facilities, presentations based on cutting-edge technology, rich cultural collections, and educational features offered through various cultural events. Additionally, social media marketing tactics have helped raise the museum's profile among visitors. However, this study also revealed problems in visitor management, especially related to the ignorance of some visitors about museum policies and proper etiquette. According to the study's findings, the Sonobudoyo Museum has great potential as a competitive cultural tourism destination, but needs to improve visitor education and interesting cultural programs. It is hoped that the results of this study will be the basis for creating a museum management plan that prioritizes sustainable cultural preservation and the visitor experience
