Sosialisasi dan Workshop Pembuatan Kompos Upaya Edukasi Pengelolaan Sampah Organik

Abstract

Waste management is an urgent environmental issue in Indonesia, with waste production increasing every year, yet not being properly managed. This research aims to increase community awareness and capabilities in managing organic waste through socialization and composting workshops at a boarding school in Lampung. The results show that the socialization and composting workshops successfully increased participants' understanding, awareness, and motivation in managing organic waste, with a participant attendance rate of 94% and an understanding level of 90%. The participatory method used was effective in increasing community awareness and capabilities. This research also shows that the educational approach used, a combination of lectures and workshops, is effective in increasing public awareness and skills. These results are consistent with previous research showing that participatory methods can improve community awareness and ability in waste management.  Furthermore, this research also indicates that environmental education can contribute significantly to the formation of more environmentally conscious character in students. Environmental education through proper waste management is a fundamental aspect of environmental conservation that must be continuously instilled in children from an early age. Therefore, further efforts are needed to increase community awareness and capabilities in managing organic waste.
