Penyuluhan Sistem Tanam Terpadu SRI–Jajar Legowo 4:1 kepada Poktan Sumber Rejeki Kelurahan Kraton, Maospati, Magetan

Abstract

This Community Service Program (PKM) aimed to improve farmers’ knowledge and skills in implementing the integrated SRI–Jajar Legowo 4:1 planting system in lowland rice cultivation. The activity was conducted at Sumber Rejeki Farmer Group, Kraton Village, Maospati District, Magetan Regency, East Java. The methods applied included counseling, field assistance, observation, interviews, and participatory evaluation by involving farmers as active partners. The counseling materials covered the principles of the System of Rice Intensification (SRI), Jajar Legowo 4:1 planting technique, land preparation, seedling management, intermittent irrigation, fertilization, and crop maintenance. The results showed a positive response from farmers toward the introduced technology, as indicated by increased understanding and interest in applying the SRI and Jajar Legowo systems. Out of 53 farmer group members, 36 farmers expressed willingness to adopt the Jajar Legowo 4:1 system, and two farmers successfully implemented it on an area of 1.2 ha. The integrated SRI–Jajar Legowo 4:1 planting system resulted in a rice yield of 9.2 tons, which was higher than the conventional planting system that previously produced an average of approximately 7 tons per hectare. This activity demonstrates that agricultural counseling and field assistance play a significant role in encouraging the adoption of innovative rice cultivation technologies, increasing productivity, and supporting sustainable food security and farmer welfare
